In the more and more technological world where we live in and in which we rely our messages on emails and WhatsApp conversations, we tend to underestimate the importance of human relationships, even when a phone call or a face-to-face meeting can make all the difference. As a matter of fact, these relationships need friendliness and empathy in order to create a sincere and solid bond, both on a personal and on a professional level.
We all know about the benefits of creating a good climate among colleagues; also, feeling welcomed and supported is useful to overcome conflicts, difficult moments and to find the best solutions to a problem. Trainers and tutors explaned that to all of us and we really cannot help but agree with them; we experience it every day: good relationships reduce stress and make us feel good.
Otherwise, we pay less attention to the relationships with suppliers; yet, in the work chain, we are both customers and suppliers at the same time. The quality of human relationships depends on us, on our way to communicate, and on our ability to interact with other people. It is a principle that I learnt from my parents and I am glad to have inherited it – and, above all, to put it into practice every day.
If I think about how many sudden and unexpected ideas came from free talks with my suppliers, I can only be grateful for all the good people cooperating with my company and for the relationship of trust and respect we have built together.
However, with these lines, I would like to thank one particular person: Mr. Renato Vergnano, head of DigitalFlex Company, who passed away yesterday. For over 40 years, he made print layouts for Imbalplast.Â
For both our companies, it was a long and productive relationship; it began with my parents and went on when my wife, my brother and I took the company over.
Our relationship went over job; we were often in touch and we always spoke about our families or our recent holidays.
He was much more than a supplier: he was a person able to recognise the quality of human relationships and he passed this value down to his children Andrea and Barbara.
