All Italy is beautiful, there is plenty of choice to visit. If you like spending your vacation visiting villages and cities of art, we suggest you to include Soncino, where Imbalplast is located. You will not find it in the usual tour, but it is the ideal spot for a day trip, it was included in the list “I Borghi Più Belli d’Italia” (i.e. the most beautiful villages of Italy) and we invite you to discover Soncino’s artistic and panoramic heritage.
Soncino is a medieval village with around 7,500 inhabitants. It is located in the countriside of the area of Cremona (Lombardy) and lapped by the waters of the Oglio River. Soncino is also historically connected to the Sforza family who had ruled the Duchy of Milan for a long time from the mid-15th century. The imposing castle known as Rocca Sforzesca, located next to ancient city wall – is a witness to this historical connection. You can visit it following the competent tourist guides which will lead you through hidden stairs and throughout an enchanting historical and artistic tour, also showing you some secret passages. You can also see the spots when some scenes of the movie LadyHawke were filmed, can you remember it?
In your tour of Soncino, don’t forget to visit the many churches, the Printing Museum (also known as Printers’ House), the Tinazzo Park. where you can relax in the cool shade, and the Silk Museum to go back at the time when silkworm farming was one of main local activities.
And what about the pleasures of food? You cannot say no to a good dish of casoncell (i.e. a type of Italian stuffed pasta), donkey stew and the famous cold cuts of Cremona’s culinary tradition.
